Yes. NCSBN’s NCLEX FAQ says that questions containing a numeric laboratory value include the corresponding normal reference range. You still have to interpret the result in the context of the question.
Read the value in context
Read the test name and units before comparing the result with the supplied range. If the case gives several results over time, follow that sequence. Then return to the question itself and identify the decision it asks you to make.
When you review an answer, locate the point where your reasoning went wrong. Did you misread a value, miss a change over time, or answer a different question? That gives you something specific to work on in the next practice set. Use NCSBN’s preparation resources and sample materials to get familiar with the format.
What this means for studying
Your nursing course may still require you to learn reference ranges. Follow those requirements, while practicing how to use the information supplied in an exam question. An isolated list of values cannot replace that interpretation.
