The exam organizations below offer free material, although the amount of practice varies. ATI has a short test; PTCB publishes an outline of the topics. Choose the resource for the exam you are taking, and check what it includes before planning your study time around it.
TEAS practice from ATI
ATI’s free online practice test contains 60 questions and answer rationales. Access requires an ATI account and the free checkout process described on that page. It is not a full-length exam.
The PTCE content outline
The 2026 PTCE content outline is a free scope document, not a practice question bank. Use it to check whether your study material covers the current topics.
NCLEX previews and sample material
NCSBN’s preparation page links to exam previews, sample materials, and other official preparation information. Check the RN or PN materials relevant to your exam.
Your state’s CNA skills instructions
Find the testing provider named by your state’s nurse aide program. For one state-specific example, see Credentia’s Virginia skills-evaluation instructions. Do not apply one state’s rules to another without checking.
Check the version before you study
Save the publisher and version or effective date with each resource. When you find another guide in a forum or search result, compare its coverage with the current official material before relying on it.
